On the set of The Lamp Still Burns (1943)

Leslie Howard supervising his last film The Lamp Still Burns
You can read here (Leslie Howard’s Last Film), an article published in Illustrated on June 26, 1943, just a few days after Leslie’s death. The article includes several photos taken on the set, with surgical instruments and equipments which were loaned by hospitals. All technical scenes were conducted under the direction of the theatre supervisor of the London Hospital.
This co-operation was remembered in May 1944, when Laurence Olivier unveiled a tablet at the London Hospital, in memory of Leslie Howard.

The Times, May 25, 1944
Many thanks for reminding us that Leslie was a great defender of noble causes and human rights as well as a great artist.
He was ahead of his time from every point of view. This makes his untimely death so cruel, almost unbearable.
